This free metal detector has been designed for the iPhone 3GS using the built in compass (magnetometer) to sense c hanges in the electromagnet field from metallic objects in close proximity to the phone

Instructions

Upon opening the app, select the desired sensitivity by using the sliding bar.  As you approach metals with the iPhone 3GS the alarm will visually light up and a sound will be emitted from the phone. (Sound can be toggled on and off at any time.)

 

Note: Free Metal Detector is only compatible with the iPhone 3GS because of the built in compass (magnetometer).
